`Clean Washing`

Clean Washing is an iconic suburban Hills Hoist, hung with handkerchiefs sourced from local people, and hand-printed with images of cosmic events and discoveries dating from Rookwood’s beginning. The work reminds people of the everyday reality of death, it happens in our own ‘back yard’. By using handkerchiefs, the artist suggests the cleansing power of the grieving process. The cosmic occurrences, recall our connection to the universe.

This piece was part of Hidden: Rookwood Cemetery Sculpture Walk and was exhibited at the Rookwood Cemetery from the 21st of September to 31st of October 2013 in Sydney, Australia.
